A few days ago, Ticona, a high-performance engineering plastics business of Celanese, announced that Ticona and Swiss Rinspeed automakers introduced Bamboo new concept electric car at the Automotive News Club (MPC) in Frankfurt, Germany. Rinspeed's concept car "Bamboo" can use electric power to save energy, protect the environment, and innovative materials can effectively solve the problem of weight loss. The underbody, hub components, tailgate, instrument panel cover and stabilizer bar are all made of Celstran tapes. Hostaform tapes are used for interior car covers and sill guards. The pillar guards and steering wheel trims are made from Hostaform MetalX.

Celstran CFR-TP PP GF70 is used for the "Bamboo" chassis and hub components. Ticona turned to Oxeon of Sweden to produce 20-mm-wide Tapes made of this material. The bottom of the car body is compressed with two layers of strips to a wall thickness of 1 mm, while the hub compresses the three layers to bring greater stiffness. The dashboard is using Celstran GFR-TP POM GF60 material.
Ticona also uses CFR-TP PPS CF60 material for the tailgate and stabilizer bar. This kind of material has very good stability. It can achieve the same effect as a metal with a much heavier weight. If you replace it with aluminum or steel, the weight of the car will increase by 20% and 50% respectively.
In addition, the new concept car used Ticona's materials again, and the "Bam boo" column guard used Ticona's new product Hostaform Meta LX (XT). Compared with other impact-reducing POM materials, this material sets new standards in impact strength and joint line integrity, with advantages such as light weight, easy processing and metal appearance.
