Recently, Professor Zhou Zhou of Northwestern Polytechnical University led a team to develop a "solar WiFi drone." Compared with other drones, this drone combines solar energy, drones and wireless routers to provide energy for drones, which greatly extends the flight time of drones.
According to the developer, the drone can fly for about 12 hours and build a "WiFi base station" in the air. A mobile phone that is within the coverage of the signal can be searched by the drone as long as the positioning function is turned on.
This function will greatly facilitate the search and rescue of personnel under special conditions. The invention won a gold medal at the National Science and Technology Workers Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of the 18th China Association for Science and Technology.
