Traditional batteries use powdered nanoparticle materials to form a dense, multi-layered structure capable of storing and releasing energy.
This new battery also uses the same nanoparticle material, but this material is first decomposed in a solution containing graphite and then carbonized to form a dense network of conductors throughout the battery electrode.
The result is that all particles in the new battery that can accumulate energy can be recharged at the same time, while the same particles in a traditional battery are recharged sequentially from the outermost layer to the innermost layer.
In this way, the time required to charge a new battery only accounts for 1/30 to 1/120 of the time required to charge the existing battery.
“What's remarkable about this research is that it overcomes the limitations of existing lithium batteries,†said Qiu Zaifei, a professor at the Ulsan National Academy of Science and Technology. “We will further develop it in one minute. A new rechargeable battery for electric vehicles."
The research papers of the research group were published in the international journal "Applied Chemistry" weekly earlier this month.
