Polyoxymethylene, the English name is Acetal resin , Polyoxymethylene , Polyacetal , referred to as POM , commonly known as Saigang . Polyoxymethylene is obtained by solution polymerization, bulk polymerization, radiation polymerization or gas phase polymerization of trioxane, followed by esterification or etherification to seal the end groups and granulate. Polyoxymethylene is divided into two types: homopolyformaldehyde and acetal copolymer. The homopolyformaldehyde is obtained by polymerization of anhydrous polyacetal. The copolymerized formaldehyde is a copolymerization product of trioxane and a small amount of dioxolane.
1959 DuPont first realized industrial production POM tradename Delrin, 1962 United States Celanese Corporation introduced the acetal copolymer product, trade name: Celcon. At present, POM manufacturers account for a large proportion of copolymerized products.
