New polycarbonate material development

New polycarbonate materials have recently been developed.

SABIC's Innovative Plastics Business Unit has developed a three-dimensionally shaped, durable and high-performance LEXAN MARGARD polycarbonate material that can be applied to windshields and windows in harvesting and transmission vehicles.

The material absorbs near-infrared light (IR) and enhances work protection under hot weather conditions, providing UV protection, abrasion protection and impact protection. Compared to ordinary glass, this material has a weight reduction of about 50% and is almost unbreakable. In terms of safety glass material certification, it complies with EU ECE 43R regulations. Thanks to a durable hard coating, the sheet has excellent abrasion resistance and chemical resistance, maintains its optical permeability, and facilitates long-term maintenance.
