Ms. Erna Corbetta was recently invited to serve as the chief designer of Xilinmen, bringing Italian advanced design culture to China. What is the innovation and mutation that Erna Corbetta will bring to Xilinmen after being invited as the chief designer of Xilinmen? What is her personal furniture design proposition? Q1: I would like to ask you to be the chief designer of Xilinmen. Is this the first time you have cooperated with Chinese furniture companies? What is the main reason why you choose to cooperate with Xilinmen Furniture?
Ke Aihua: This is my first time to cooperate with Chinese companies. I am very happy to have this opportunity to cooperate with Xilinmen Furniture. In fact, this time I was able to cooperate with Xilinmen Furniture, mainly because Xilinmen chose me. When Mr. Chen Ayu, the chairman of Xilinmen, visited some of my works when I visited Milan, I felt that it was more suitable for the design of Xilinmen furniture. So I chose to work with me. In addition, this time, it was also because of the feeling and respect of the artistic elements in the product development and design of Xilinmen Furniture.
Q2: After you are the chief designer of Xilinmen, what kind of form will you use to cooperate with Xilinmen Home? Will there be new works to meet consumers in the near future?
Ke Aihua: Next, I will be responsible for the design of all the new products of the two brands of Faschmann and BBR in Xilinmen. The design of the Xilinmen design team led by me, the future design concept is that through the matching of various materials, the coordination of various design elements, lock in every detail of the product to show exquisiteness, art and humanity. It is expected that in the spring of 2014, my new design of Xilinmen furniture will be launched.
Q3: In your opinion, what elements should a good bed have?
Ke Aihua: First of all, I believe that a quality bed should first have two characteristics, namely, “comfort and healthâ€. The bedding products should be based on people’s demand for sleep, and have breakthroughs in breathable and environmentally friendly fabrics, technology and ridge protection technology. A bed that provides a comfortable, healthy sleep for the user is a quality bed. In addition, a high-quality bed, in its appearance must have unique characteristics, especially to have fine-grained appearance details, only the bed with the above conditions can be called a quality bed.
Q4: China and Italy are representatives of two different countries in China and the West. They have different cultural heritages and different lifestyles. What do you think is the difference between Chinese furniture design and Italian furniture design? What measures will you take to achieve different Chinese and Western? Effective integration of furniture design concepts?
Ke Aihua: In my opinion, the most important difference between Chinese design and Western design is, first of all, in terms of style. At present, in the general cognition of designers in Western countries, the design is mainly modern design, and the creativity is relatively strong. Create something new that you didn't have before. This is my first visit to China. Although I have contacted many Chinese designers in the past few days, I have not fully and thoroughly understood the design concepts of Chinese designers. However, from the current situation of my contact, I think Chinese designers still have some problems in the design of furniture that need to be improved. In terms of material selection and detail processing, more improvements are needed. Only the choice of safe and environmentally friendly materials is more user-friendly and refined in terms of design details. The furniture products designed in this way can better cater to consumers' pursuit of quality products.
Q5: The trend of furniture design is a comprehensive manifestation of the diverse needs of lifestyle. The rise of fast-moving methods has led to rapid changes in fashion trends. Architecture, furniture, the East and the West, the classical and the modern... infiltrate and interact with each other, and the fashion trend is reversing. What do you think is the future trend of Chinese furniture design?
Ke Aihua: The trend of future furniture design should be that as global resource sharing intensifies, the future of furniture design will become more and more unified, and there will be a sense of coordination in furniture design products. This unity can be formal. Unity can also be a functional unity. In combination, furniture design will reconcile other elements to achieve product design coordination.
Q6: As a well-known Italian architectural and home designer, you have designed many works for the top Italian furniture brands. Which one is your most satisfying?
Ke Aihua: Every time I design a product, it is a special experience for me. There is a special story behind it. I can't say exactly which product is my most satisfying.
Q7: In the home design process, is there any color and design style you like? What is your design proposition?
Ke Aihua: As a designer, I think the most important thing is to design a correct and excellent product. The design is more to meet the needs of customers and to better present product features for customers. I require my own products to meet the requirements of the customer, the product must meet its own functional characteristics, but also with its future environment to match and match. Rather than relying on what color I personally like and what style I like, I use it too much.
Ke Aihua: My personal design idea is to design a product of “modern comfort, modern eleganceâ€. I believe that during my time as the chief designer of Xilinmen Furniture, I was able to design a product that is “modern comfort, modern elegance†that consumers love.
